GIN HYOGO 135 EAST
GIN HYOGO 135 EAST
The 135 East Hyogo Dry Gin from the Kaikyo distillery takes its name from the meridian line passing near the distillery in the city of Akashi, Japan, at a longitude of 135 degrees east. The broader region of Hyogo prefecture is rich in Japanese botanicals such as cedarwood, shiso leaves, Sansho pepper, yuzu and chrysanthemum. Fruis and spices marry this ideally aromatic gin. Produced through intermittent distillation, utilizing the aforementioned ingredients from the Far East along with juniper and other traditional London dry herbs. The 135 East Hyogo Dry Gin achieves an ideal balance of complexity and harmony, embodying an authentic Japanese spirit.
Just before reaching its centennial milestone, the company decided to replace the old stills with new copper pot stills from the Scottish company Forsyths. The new facilities were intended for the production of Japanese Single Malt Whisky and other spiris, named the Kaikyo Distillery after the famous Akashi-Kaikyo Bridge passing in front of the distillery.
The 135 East Gin harmoniously blend Eastern and Western traditions, not only in the gin itself but also in its label, where 20th century Japanese individuals don Western-inspired attire.
